The Saints dominated the do-or-die semi-final, increasing their lead in every quarter to claim a 20.20 (140) to 6.5 (41) win.

Saints president Brett Douglas said it was a fantastic win.

"The plan was to try and get on top early and shut their run down," he said.

"We tried to attack and put our better players forward and on the ball.

"It turned out to be the right result."

The Bulls kicked the first goal of the game, but did not add a second to their tally until the third quarter.

By then the Saints had had 22 scoring shots and led by 56 points and the game was all but over.

An eight-goal-to-three final term added more weight to the final margin.

Saints coach James McNamee was the star, kicking nine goals.

But Douglas said the side was well led by a number of contributors.

"Andrew Jesse was excellent at centre-half-forward and he's basically a backman," he said.

"Caleb Bloomer played well on the ball, Nick Coghlan moved up the ground a bit and played well.

"Dan McGrath and Keegan Dingo led the backline

"There weren't too many passengers."

Coghlan also kicked three goals for the Saints, while Dan Castellano was the Bulls' only multiple goal-kicker, finishing with four of his team's six majors.

Zac Holmes and Joel Cusack were the Bulls' best.

Douglas said his side would start to prepare for a preliminary final.

It will either play Wedderburn or Charlton, depending on the result of Saturday's second semi-final at St Arnaud.

"We're going to have to play Wedderburn and Charlton hopefully, but in what order we don't know yet," he said.
