News Corp reports the state government will announce on Wednesday that the Transport Accident Commission will spend $4.5 million to increase the number of motorists tested for drugs from 42,000 to 100,000.
The announcement comes as the findings of a Victorian parliamentary inquiry into the supply and use of ice is due to be handed down.
The report into the culture and prevalence of methamphetamine examined the drug's reach in Victoria and its links to organised crime, including outlaw motorcycle gangs, and contains recommendations on how the government should reduce its harm.
Victoria Police crime statistics released last week show methamphetamine-related offences increased from 62 to 3813 in the past decade.
On Tuesday Fairfax Media reported that 11 drug-detecting police dogs would be sent to locations across the state in a bid to crack down on ice supply and use.
Minister for Police and Emergency Services Kim Wells said eight dogs would be based in major regional centres and three more will go to the metropolitan region at a cost of $1.6 million over four years.
