The Falcons could not find the numbers to field a full side against second-placed Bacchus Marsh.
Falcons coach Mick Clark said it was a disappointing end after a strong second half of the season.
“It was sad finishing up like that, but a couple of injuries and a few people not able to turn up made it an easy decision,” he said.
“We asked everyone to commit on Friday night by 9pm and only had three people.
“We would have had about 10 players – we weren’t going down there to get a hiding.”
The Falcons had taken seven of a possible nine points against three of the league’s top-five teams in the preceding three weeks.
“We can be proud of most of our games late in the year,” Clark said.
Clark said he believed Bacchus Marsh and Sebastopol were the favourites to win the league.
The Falcons’ under-15s finished 10th on the ladder after a bye.
