The sessions started on Monday and will continue until Wednesday night.

Federal Parliament enacted the Living Longer, Living Better aged care reform package last year.

Many of the changes came into effect on July 1 this year.

The changes will not affect anyone already living in aged care facilities before July 1.

Wimmera Health Care Group quality manager Katrina Perroud said the information was important for anyone thinking about moving to an aged care facility.

She said it was also important for those with a relative who could move into aged care.

"The reforms focus on increasing the level of choice for residents," she said.

"We want to make sure new residents and family members understand the changes and feel confident they are making the best decisions for their loved ones."

One of the main changes set out in the reform package is how the assessable income of those entering into aged care is calculated.

Where possible, care recipients will be required to contribute to the cost of their care.

Assets and income above the pension level will be looked at before fees can be set by aged care providers.

Ms Perroud said there were four sessions this week.

She said Dimboola hosted a session on Monday.

There will be two sessions at Horsham Sunnyside Bowling Club on Tuesday - one from 10.30am to 11.30am and the other from 7pm to 8pm.

Wednesday night's session session is at Dimboola Memorial Secondary College from 7pm to 8pm.
