Director Debbie Boutcher said the cast and crew were an enthusiastic mix of experience and newcomers.
"We have many people that have never been involved before," she said.
"We teach them theatre craft as well as dancing and singing.
"The result is a combination of those people and some well-known talent."
The musical, written by Australian playwright Judith Prior, is a comedy loosely based on Puss In Boots.
Boutcher said renditions of Beyonce's All The Single Ladies, Madonna's Material Girl and Twister Sister's We're Not Gonna' Take It were highlights of the performance.
She said about 30 cast and 25 crew had been working at rehearsals and in their own time to finely tune the production.
"It's been really good - we've been rehearsing for just over three months," she said.
"People in the cast would be at rehearsals for eight hours a week.
"That's a considerable amount of time to give up, given we're all volunteers."
Boutcher said the musical was suitable for audiences of all ages.
"What we really need is for people to come along and see it after the huge amount of work that has gone into it," she said.
"It is family-friendly - young children will enjoy it.
"There's a dancing camel, talking cat and three extremely funny old ladies.
"We've really honed in on the comedy. There's a bit of slapstick - it's corny but funny."
What's New Pussycat opens at the Horsham Centre Cinemas on October 17 and will have seven performances.
