Mr Henwood made the slice, weighing 677.76 kilograms, at the Horsham Show on Wednesday.
It beat the record of 508.11kg set by Flinders Fish and Chips, in Flinders, Victoria, in June 2012.
Mr Henwood made 69 custard mixes for the slice, which were weighed and noted to comply with Guinness’s rules.

He said he would send documentation to Guinness headquarters in London to make it official.
“I’m sure there won’t be any problems,” he said.
“We followed all the rules.”
Mr Henwood said his project had created plenty of interest.
“We had a steady stream of people come through all day,” he said.
“A lot of people went away with a piece of vanilla slice.”
Horsham Agricultural Society secretary Andrea Cross said it was wonderful The Oven Door Bakery chose the show as the backdrop for its world record attempt.
“It’s received a lot of recognition and we’re grateful to be a part of it,” she said.
Mrs Cross said while wet and windy conditions hampered crowd numbers on Tuesday, the society was happy with Wednesday’s crowd.
“There were good crowds during the day. There was a bit of a lull between 4pm and 5pm, but then people continued to roll in,” she said.
Mrs Cross said community engagement was one of the most pleasing aspects about this year’s show.
“We don’t have the financial capacity for monster trucks or V8 cars at the moment,” she said.
“Without the support of the community and schools such as Horsham and St Brigid’s colleges we wouldn’t be able to have as many activities.
“Our sponsors have also been terrific. They are already saying they want to get back on board next year and are coming up with ideas to make it bigger and better.”
Mrs Cross said the animal nursery was a popular place on both days.
“Katrina Rainsford was our vet at the show. She said she had never seen an animal nursery as good as Horsham’s,” she said.
There were serveral competitions throughout the show.
Leigh McGennisken won the Rural Ambassador Award and Dustin Cross won the junior ambassador award.
Sarah Marchment is the young leader for 2014, while Meaghan Wik was named Miss Teen Showgirl.
Scott Morrison won the coveted Bryce Hallam Memorial award for best local ute in the beaut ute competition.
