Rubber ducks that will race on the Wimmera River for cash prizes went on sale on Thursday.
This year 2000 ducks will take to the water for the annual Wimmera Health Care Group Foundation fundraiser in November.
The race will be on the banks of the Wimmera River near Horsham Soundshell and will be part of the city’s annual Kannamaroo festival.
Foundation chairman Don Johns said the launch went extremely well.
“We had a great deal of interest and support from the community,” he said.
Mr Johns said the foundation decided to double the number of ducks in the race after last year’s success.
“Last year the ducks sold out 10 days prior to the event so we have allowed more ducks to enter this highly competitive race,” he said.
“There will be lots of activity near the river so we invite everyone to come down to be part of the fun of Kannamaroo.”
Event co-ordinator Allison Roberts said many tickets were sold at last week’s launch.
“I expect it will sell out again quickly, so get in early,” she said.
Horsham Mayor David Grimble bought the first ticket for a duck in this year’s race.
The foundation’s motto is Give Where You Live and all money raised goes to projects within the Wimmera Health Care Group campuses providing state-of-the-art technology and equipment.
Tickets for ducks are available from Hillross Horsham.
The Great Wimmera Duck Race will be on November 29 at 1pm.
