Students from across Victoria's western district competed.
Minyip and District Field and Game's schools co-ordinator James Craig said the event was a massive success.
"We had schools from Ballarat, Warrnambool and other coastal areas," he said.
"There were easily a couple of hundred parents there as well.
"It's tremendous for us to see juniors coming up into the sport and people seeing what its about and being able to participate."
Mr Craig said students shot two rounds of 12 targets.
"It's organised as a competition for regular club shooters and as a come and try day for people new to the sport," he said.
Hamilton College won the school aggregate from St Arnaud Secondary College.
Will Linke, from Hamilton's Good Shepherd College, was the overall high gun winner, with Nhill College's Ashley Bone the boys high gun winner and Lauren Pearce from Donald High School the girls high gun winner.
Mr Craig said it had taken a team effort to make the day a success.
"We're really lucky. We were supported by volunteers from other clubs all over the western district," he said.
"We really couldn't do it without the help of the other clubs."
Mr Craig said the club's next event would be on November 16 and people could contact Bruce Crafter on 0428 504 797 for information.
