Australia played a three-test series against New Zealand in men's open, mixed open, men's 23-and under and men's 19-and-under competition.
The men's 23-and-under side won 59-39 on Wednesday last week before securing a 48-30 victory on Friday and a close 46-41 triumph on Saturday.
Richardson, 21, said it was a great experience.
"We had boys from four different states, so it was good to get into camp a few days early and gel on and off the court," he said. "The first game we came out really strong from the start."
Richardson said the New Zealand side was competitive.
"You always go in with high expectations," he said.
"New Zealand was definitely up to the standard in every aspect it played really hard and fast.
"We never had an easy game the New Zealanders always made us work for every ball.
"It's a credit to our team they really made us work."
Richardson said he was pleased with his own performance.
He played wing defence and centre in the first two tests. He played centre in the third test before being rotated out at half-time.
"It's always a bit nerve-wracking stepping out onto the court in the green and gold," he said.
"I felt like I concentrated really well on the job I had to do."
The Wimmera product said the three-test series allowed him to press his case for further representative duties.
"I've been fortunate enough to be selected in the Victorian men's open team for next year, so we start training in a couple of weeks for the 2015 national championships," he said.
