The woman, 63, from the Stawell area, died after her car crashed into a tree at Stawell at about 7.30am Wednesday.
Northern Grampians Highway Patrol Sergeant Rod Davis said police were still investigating the cause.
“We have to do a reconstruction of the scene and have the vehicle inspected before we reach any conclusions,” he said.
There were also four crashes in Horsham on Wednesday and Thursday.
A male driver in his 30s, of Horsham, crashed his car into a parked car on Natimuk Road at about 3.40pm on Wednesday.
Horsham Highway Patrol Sergeant Wayne Caddy said the cause of the crash was unknown.
He said both cars were seriously damaged and were towed from the scene and the driver who caused the accident was taken to Wimmera Base Hospital with minor injuries.
Another crash on Natimuk Road on Thursday at a children’s crossing involved three cars.
A female P-plate driver was charged with careless driving after she crashed into the back of a car that was stopped at the children’s crossing at about 9am.
She crashed into the back of a Holden, which in turned crashed into the back of a Mitsubishi waiting for the crossing supervisor to return to the side of the road.
Horsham Leading Senior Constable Lee-Anne Birthisel said all three drivers were treated for shock at the scene.
She said the driver of the Mitsubishi and the P-plate driver were taken to hospital as a precaution.
Crossing supervisor Jenny Smith said no children were in danger when the crash happened.
“I was in the middle of the road with my stop sign, making sure there weren’t children crossing the road,” she said.
Sen Const Birthisel said police were investigating why the P-plate driver crashed.
On Wednesday at about 5.15pm, a P-plate driver lost control of his car and crashed into a drain on Wawunna Road near May Park.
Two cars crashed about 1.45pm on Thursday near the Urquhart and Wilson streets roundabout.
There were no injuries.
Sgt Davis asked drivers to be more careful on the road.
“We just urge drivers to be mindful of things that are highlighted as causes of crashes,” he said.
“We implore drivers to be aware of the fatal five – alcohol, drugs, speed, distraction and fatigue.”
