The annual event will be on October 24, 2015, and will be on the fourth weekend of October each year.
A partnership between the Blue Ribbon Foundation Horsham branch and Wimmera Health Care Group has led the revival of the fundraiser.
Organising committee member Chris McClure said the German festival at Dimboola ran for many years and had all the ingredients of becoming a tourism event.
"Food, drinks, music, culture and costume are the main ingredients to an event's success," he said.
"When the opportunity arose because of the discontinuation of the event at Dimboola, we started discussions around reinvigorating the event and growing it as a tourism event."
All proceeds from the event will be donated to Wimmera Health Care Group's emergency department.
Mr McClure said people could expect a fun-filled afternoon of dancing, merriment and eating.
"The festival will celebrate all things German and acknowledge and celebrate the Germanic and Wendish history and early settlement of the Wimmera region," he said.
Wimmera Regional Library Corporation chief executive Paula Clark said over the next 12 months, the corporation would co-ordinate the collection of cultural material and photographs for display at the festival.
Mr McClure said there was already interest from community groups keen to host supporting events to the Wimmera German Fest.
He said the Vectis Lutheran Church wanted to consolidate its annual German night into next year's Wimmera German Fest.
Organiser Andrea Cross said this year's German night would be on October 25 at the Quantong Community Centre from 6pm.
"More than 130 tickets have been sold with more still available by calling Norma Hudson on 0419 583 010," she said.
Mr McClure said people could go to wimmeragermanfest.com.au for more information on the event.
He said expressions of interest to join the event committee were also open and people could call Peter Daffy on 0427 051 605 for more information.
