Everett is a former coach at both Pimpinio and Dimboola, and left the Tigers after the 2012 season to return to the Roos.
He joins brothers Daniel and Shanan Baker and Cameron Ellis who have also crossed to Pimpinio from Dimboola this year.
Ellis and the Bakers are former Pimpinio players and were part of the club’s back-to-back Horsham District Football Netball League senior flags in 2005 and 2006.
Everett split his time between playing in the seniors and reserves for the Roos this year. He was named one of the club’s best players in its reserves premiership victory against Horsham Saints, and was best on ground in the 2013 Wimmera Football League reserves grand final.
Pimpinio president David O’Connor said it was great to have Everett back on board as the club looked to improve on its wooden spoon performance this season.
O’Connor said it was significant that Pimpinio had been able to recruit several former premiership players as it prepared for the 10-year anniversary of its 2005 flag.
“With it being the 10-year premiership anniversary, we’re trying to recruit blokes who played in that team,” he said.
“It’s looking like we’re going to recruit well at this stage. Last season we didn’t sign Mal Coutts as our coach until
late in the year, so getting ‘Spider’ on board as coach now will make it easier to recruit players.”
O’Connor said Everett was a great signing for the team, and would bring plenty of experience.
He thanked Coutts for his one season at the helm.
“Mal has left a lot of good things behind for the club to build on,” he said.
“I regard him as a good friend and a lot of people at the club had a real affi nity with him.”
Coutts said that after more than 320 games as a coach, he was looking to take a step back next season.
He said he was talking to a club about taking on a part-time assistant coaching role.
“I’ve met some really good people at Pimpinio and I hope they have success,” he said.
“Knowing ‘Spider’, they’ll do well next season.” Alex Hill, another member of Pimpinio’s premiership teams, will step down as assistant coach.
O’Connor said Hill would continue playing, but the club hoped to recruit one or more new players to fill the assistant coaching role.
He said recruiters were looking beyond the Wimmera in their search for talent, and hoped to announce new signings soon.
Pimpinio hosted its annual general meeting on Wednesday night, with O’Connor returned as president.
Other executive positions were filled by Ross Frew, vice-president; Leah Dumesny and Steffi Margetts, joint secretaries; and Malcolm Dumesny, treasurer.
