The Bullants, who were forced to forfeit their first game, have since gone from strength to strength.
After falling just three runs short of victory against Jung Tigers in round two, the Bullants accounted for reigning premier Homers by five wickets at the weekend.
All-rounder Josh Colbert – who scored three half-centuries last year – scored an unbeaten 56 to guide the Bullants home after a disciplined bowling performance against an understrength Pigeons outfit.
A consistent Bullants bowling attack, featuring new recruit Jordan McDonald, Jordan Huff, Matt Combe and Colbert, will have its work cut out against the Blue Panthers.
Gun recruit Travis Hair has been the catalyst for the Blue Panthers’ red-hot start to the season.
The big-hitting right-hander is yet to be dismissed, blasting scores of 77 not out, 93 not out and 84 not out.
But Hair has not lacked support with the bat.
Leigh Funcke has scores of 69 and 39 to his name, while Brayden Ison has compiled 50 not out and 35 in his two innings.
The likes of skipper Brent Hudson, Paul Morgan and Craig Morgan have not been required to bat.
The Blue Panthers’ bowling attack will not be short of depth either, with Hudson, Glenn Morgan and Craig Morgan among the competition’s top six wicket-takers.
Laharum will back itself to score back-to-back wins when it hosts Jung Tigers at Cameron Oval, Laharum, on Saturday.
With openers Ben Peucker and Josh Mahoney in rich form, the Tigers’ bowling attack will need to make early breakthroughs.
Peucker has scored 128 and 82 in his two innings this season, while Mahoney is averaging less than 50 after scores of 79 and 20.
The Tigers will look to the dependable David Puls – who has picked up two wickets in each of the side’s first three matches – to continue leading the way with the ball.
Skipper Tyler Neville holds the key with the bat at the top of the order and will be full of confidence after scoring 73 against Rup-Minyip at the weekend.
Either Horsham Saints or Homers will even their win-loss ledger at Coughlin Park, Horsham, on Saturday.
Both sides will go into the match with a one-two record.
Homers skipper Lachie Jones said his side would regain opening batsman Sandy Hodge, opening bowler Craig Britten and all-rounder Chris Hopper.
“We get them back, which will strengthen us a bit,” he said.
“We need to make a competitive score each week if we’re going to win games.
“We’ve got the depth to do that if everyone puts their hand up.”
The Saints will be desperate to bounce back after a disappointing loss to
Laharum, as will the Pigeons after their loss to Noradjuha-Toolondo.
Tony Caccaviello and Karl Goodwin will strengthen the Saints’ bowling attack.
