The challenge involves schools in regional Victoria constructing energy-efficient vehicles.
The school's grade six students will be involved in the challenge, which runs from Thursday until Saturday.
Grade six teacher Gemma Perkins said the students celebrated their achievements so far with a special day on Thursday last week.
Parents and sponsors were invited to the school to view the student's projects for the challenge.
Students were also able to tell the community about the challenge through a live radio broadcast.
"We had a great turnout and all the students were really enthusiastic," Miss Perkins said.
Miss Perkins said the students were putting the final touches to their challenge projects.
The challenge involves building a bridge out of recycling material that can support a three-litre container of water, creating a pushcart that will be raced through an obstacle course, and creating a self-powered craft that runs along a channel of water, carrying a full soft drink can.
Miss Perkins said students were also required to create speeches about what they have learnt through the challenge.
"Students went to the pool yesterday to test their craft and make sure it is in working order," she said.
"The pushcart team members are keeping up their fitness to make sure they are in peak condition for the challenge."
She said the students would talk about their experience at a school assembly when they returned from the challenge.
Other Wimmera schools involved include Horsham's Holy Trinity Lutheran School, Warracknabeal Secondary College, Warracknabeal's St Mary's Catholic Primary School, Stawell West Primary School, Donald High School and St Arnaud Secondary College.
