Alayna is one of 15 students from across Australia invited to the Global Young Leaders Conference.
She was nominated by a teacher at the school she attends in Melbourne, where she is part of the school leadership council.
Alayna said she was also asked to go to the conference last year, but had to decline because it was financially out of reach.
"I'm excited to go this year, if I can," she said.
"I feel privileged because not many people get chances like this.
"It's a big opportunity and I am hoping to make the most of it."
Alayna said she was hoping Wimmea businesses or residents would contribute some money so she could go to the 10 day conference in Washington DC.
Alayna's mother Kellie said she was prepared to sell everything she owned so her daughter could attend the conference.
"The kids who go to this end up going a long way," she said.
Alayna said she wanted to go to university and train to be a heart surgeon.
"I want to send off the certificate you get when you go to the conference with my university application," she said.
Alayna said she intended to take a gap year in 2015, before going to university in 2016.
She said anyone who wanted to help could e-mail her on alayna.laylay.brown5@gmail.com.
