The Horsham Fishing Competition committee hosted its annual meeting on Thursday night and elected a new board.
Assistant secretary Prue Beltz said for the first time in a while, some new faces were on the board.
Paul Beltz was elected chairman, replacing Kevin Dellar, who served 15 years in the role.
Adele Rhode was elected secretary.
They joined deputy chair Marty Montgomery, treasurer Erica Blake and assistant treasurer Kevin Mills.
Mrs Beltz said she was excited to work with the new members.
‘‘We have a fairly good-sized committee with a bit of new blood on the executive, which I think is fantastic,’’ she said.
‘‘Hopefully Marty and Adele will bring in some new ideas.’’
Mrs Beltz said she stepped down as secretary to focus more on the advertising of the competition.
‘‘I’ll get to do the stuff I really enjoy, which is interaction with the fishermen and the selling of the competition,’’ she said.
‘‘This sort of thing is what got me involved in the committee in the first place.’’
Mrs Beltz said she would be busy helping organise the competition during the next few months.
‘‘We’ve had a couple of new ideas about increasing the cup prizes but nothing concrete yet,’’ she said.
‘‘Right now, we’re focusing on getting the brochure we make every year done and getting the mail-out done, and then making all the registrations.’’
Mrs Beltz said preparation for the fishing competition was on track.
