Krahe assisted retired playing-coach Tim Inkster at the Wimmera league club over the past two seasons.
Eagles president Bob Fleming said the club was pleased to have Krahe, 26, step into the main role.
‘‘We were looking at all different sorts of coaches,’’ he said.
‘‘In the end we decided to go with Dan – he’s worked with the guys and played with the guys over the past few years.
‘‘He’s a local bloke, he grew up here and played all his juniors with us.
‘‘His game plan will be similar to what we’ve had the past few years.’’
The Eagles have not been far away from success in recent years.
They were only three points away from a grand final berth in 2014, suffering a preliminary final loss to premier Horsham.
Mr Fleming said Krahe, who was forced to retire two years ago because of injury, was starting to prepare for next season.
The Eagles will also have a new captain after Ben Harrison crossed to Kalkee.
‘‘We lost Ben, but we’re still in discussions with a number of key players,’’ Mr Fleming said.
‘‘We’ve got a few potential recruits we’re discussing options with and hopefully in the next few weeks we’ll get them finalised.’’
Mr Fleming said the Eagles were looking to start pre-season early next year.
