The spread of fire has subsided in the area of Minimay and Booropki, 28 kilometres south-west of Kaniva.

The Rocklands-Rees Road fire in the Black Range State Park, 17 kilometres north-east of Balmoral, is still not yet under control.
The fire is becoming more active in the southern section, due to unpredictable weather conditions. It is burning around and over containment lines.
Aircraft, crews and machinery are working in this area.
There is currently no threat to communities, but people should continue to stay informed and monitor conditions.

A NEW fire has been reported in the Little Desert.
This fire is known as the Little Desert-Nhill-Harrow Road fire.
The Nhill-Harrow Road is now CLOSED to the public.
The road is closed from the Natimuk-Frances Road on the south side and Winiam Road on the north side.

The Department of Environment and Primary Industries has issued an advice message for Yanac, Broughton and Yanac South.

In other news, fire-fighters have stopped the spread of the grass and bush fire in the Edenhope area and fire activity has subsided.
The fire remains contained.

THE Bureau of Meteorology has warned the Wimmera and Mallee of severe thunderstorms, with damaging wind and heavy rainfall.
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds and heavy rainfall that could lead to flash flooding in the warning area over the next several hours.
Locations that cuold be affected include Horsham, Ballarat, Bendigo, Shepparton, Seymour, Maryborough, Geelong, Melbourne, Wodonga, Wangaratta, Traralgon and Bairnsdale.
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
- Keep clear of fallen power lines.
- Secure any loose objects in the vicinity of your home.
- Keep away from creeks and drains.
- Do not drive vehicles through flooded areas.
- Stay indoors if possible.
- Avoid using the phone during the storm.
- If you are outside, avoid sheltering under trees
- Listen to the radio for storm updates
- Switch off your computer and electrical appliances
The next warning is due to be issued by 6pm.

The information was as part of an updated advice message for Moyston, Rocky Point, Willaura North, Maroona and Langi Logan.

A HEAT health alert has been issued for the Wimmera for today.
Victoria's chief health officer Rosemary Lester issued the alert for Wimmera, North Central and Central regions.
The alert encourages health professionals, aged care homes, councils and residents to monitor conditions and put any heat action plans into place.
People over 65 and those with pre-existing medical conditions are most at risk of heat-related illness.
Ms Lester has encouraged people to check in on others during the heatwave.
An alert is issued when the Bureau of Meteorology forecasts temperatures above heat health thresholds.

SEVERAL areas around Black Range State Park are closed today, as fire-fighters work to control the Rocklands-Rees Road fire.
Fire activity reduced last night after the fire flared in the north-eastern and southern sections.
Fire crews and aircraft have worked to construct and strengthen containment lines around the fire. Crews worked on the fire overnight.
The Department of Environment and Primary Industries said the threat from the fire had now reduced, but people should continue to stay informed and monitor conditions.
The information came as part of an advice message for for Telangatuk East, Toolondo, Nurrabiel and Mockinya.
High temperatures and a wind change with thunderstorms are predicted for today, which could change the fire behaviour quickly.
Community meetings for residents will be on today:

Meanwhile, fire-fighters have stopped the spread of the grass and bushfire in the Edenhope area and fire activity has subsided.

A fire in the Little Desert National Park 17 kilometres south-east of Kaniva is about 3100 hectares in size.
Fire crews will work all day blacking out and strengthening containment lines.
There is no threat to communities, but people should continue to stay informed and monitor conditions.

THE Moyston grass fire is now under control.
Fire crews have completely secured the fire edge and there has been no spread beyond the fire perimeter.
Crews will continue to patrol and black out the area.
Recovery operations have also started.
All major roads in the area are now open to the public, while other roads are still being opened.
The immediate threat has subsided, but people should continue to stay informed and monitor conditions.
The Moyston Recovery Centre is open, today and tomorrow, from 10am to 4pm at the Moyston Town Hall for fire-affected residents.
Meanwhile, the Rocklands-Rees Road fire has decreased in fire activity overnight.
Fire crews have completed construction of containment lines on the northern breakaway area from yesterday.
Fire crews continue to patrol, black out and strengthen containment lines on other parts of the fire.
The Department of Environment and Primary Industries wanrs that while the threat has eased, the fire has potential to break containment lines later today as temperatures increase.
People need to remain vigilant and should continue to stay informed and monitor conditions.
The warning level for this fire could change throughout the day.

7.10am TUESDAY
The CFA say the Rocklands Fire has slowed and is still at the Mt Talbot Reserve, south of Mt Talbot Reserve Road. Winds are light and from the south-east. Fire activity has moderated significantly.
Crews patrolled the fire overnight and dealt with spot fires from trees burning close to the edge.
Temperatures remained reasonably low overnight 16C and the relative humidity was moderate. As a result the fire activity did not increase significantly.
Today, the temperature will increase during the day and there will be light winds, so this will make conditions easier to control the fire than on Monday.
The fire still has potential to break containment lines so you need to remain vigilant during the day. The CFA says advise people that if they have left the area, they should stay away overnight as fire behaviour could change in the morning.
If you have chosen to stay in the area, be aware of surrounding conditions. However, the threat has eased at this time.
There are no current road closures.

SHADOW Minister for Emergency Services Brad Battin called on the State Government to provide fire-affected residents in the Moyston area with a landfill levy exemption.
Mr Battin, Member for Lowan Emma Kealy and Member for Ripon Louise Staley visited Moyston, Ararat and surrounding fire-affected towns on Monday to thank fire-fighting volunteers.
“I urge the State Government to immediately exempt fire-affected communities from the landfill levy to assist residents as they begin their recovery and dispose of fire damaged property,” Mr Battin said.
“The Coalition ensured this exemption was always available in emergency situations during the previous four years whenever requested by councils.

There has been an increase in fire activity, which is creating significant smoke.
Telangatuk East and Nurrabiel communities are not under threat, but people should continue to monitor conditions and stay informed.
The fire is 17 kilometres north-east of Balmoral and is burning in a north-easterly direction.
The northern part of the Black Range State Park is closed to all visitors.

A FIRE south of Kaniva in the Little Desert National Park has broken containment lines and is generating smoke.
The Department of Environment and Primary Industries has advised people in Kaniva and Minimay that they are not under threat, but should monitor conditions.
Fire crews and aircraft are working to contain the outbreak.

THE Department of Environment and Primary Industries has updated its fire advice message for Rocklands, Telangatuk East and Cherrypool communities.
Crews are continuing to work on a fire burning 17 kilometres north-east of Balmoral in the Black Range State Park.
The fire is 960 hectares in size and has not increased since Sunday.
Fire crews will continue to construct containment lines throughout Monday.
There is no threat to communities, but people should continue to stay informed and monitor conditions.

THE CFA has downgraded its advice message for Edenhope for a fire burning near the town.
Fire-fighters have contained the fire and stopped the spread.
The fire is about 1600 hectares in size.
There is some fire activity within the containment lines which could generate smoke that will be visible to nearby communities.
Edenhope residents are not under threat, but should continue to monitor conditions.
Fire crews are also blacking out and strengthening containment lines around a fire burning south-east of Kaniva.
The fire 17 kilometres south-east of the town is 3100 hectares in size.
There is no threat to communities, but people should stay informed and monitor conditions.

A RECOVERY centre will be open in the Moyston Town Hall until 4pm on Monday for people affected by the Moyston fire.
The fire is under control and the perimeter is secure, with fire-fighters able to stop the fire from spreading further.
The immediate threat has subsided, but the communities of Moyston, Rocky Point, Willaura North, Maroona and Langi Logan should continue to stay informed and monitor conditions.
All main roads have now re-opened.
Visitors to the Grampians National Park can now approach Halls Gap via the Ararat-Halls Gap road.
Fire-fighters are also working on a fire in the Bulls State Forest, about 10 kilometres south-west of Goroke.
The fire measures 75 hectares.
Communities are not under threat.
