Staff donated two eskies and several slabs of water to District 17 fire brigades during the fires at Rocklands and the Little Desert earlier this month.
Bunnings Horsham employee Christine Waldron said the team was happy to donate the products. ‘‘We like to look after the firies and the community,’’ she said.
Country Fire Authority District 17 operations Dale Russell said the donation was a very welcome one during the weeks of fire in the region.
‘‘We are very appreciative of the generosity,’’ he said.
‘‘The donation will help us supply food and drink to volunteer fire-fighters for years to come.’’
Bunnings Horsham will also host an Australia Day barbecue to support the Country Fire Authority tomorrow.
Store activities organiser Jess Mitchell said staff members would volunteer their time to host and all proceeds would go to the authority.
She said festivities would include a free jumping castle and Australia Day-themed games for children.
Mr Russell said a fire truck and volunteer fire-fighters would also be present.
Miss Mitchell said authority members would also host barbecues at Bunnings throughout the year. She encouraged Wimmera residents to come along to the barbecue.
‘‘It’s going to be a great family environment with all proceeds going to a great cause,’’ she said.
