The club wants young women to become part of the hits and giggles program, where participants learn to play squash.
Development officer Launa Schilling said there were no female players under the age of 16 in the pennant competition.
She said the club encouraged more teenagers to play.
‘‘Squash is not a game where there is only one level and you have to be very good,’’ she said.
‘‘There are high levels of squash but it is fine to just play socially, which is what we’re encouraging people to try.’’
Ms Schilling said women of any age were welcome to join the hits and giggles program, which aimed to keep people physically and socially active.
‘‘We want to make sure people have fun and learn how to play squash along the way,’’ she said.
‘‘The program enables people who are beginners to have a go at squash. There is no competition, it is just socialising and learning to play.’’
Ms Schilling said the first night of the program was on February 17 and would run for an hour from 6.30pm.
She said registrations were due by February 15.
‘‘We’ve already got 12 people who have signed up and we have 12 spots remaining,’’ she said.
Ms Schilling said there would also be a junior competition start on the same day for boys and girls from 4.15pm to 5.30pm.
She said both hits and giggles and the junior competition would run for six weeks, with junior registrations due by February 16.
A free come and try day is on February 10 from 6pm to 7pm.
