Mr McIntyre will shave his beard and hair as part of the World’s Greatest Shave, which raises money for the Leukaemia Foundation.
The former Murtoa man said he saw the fundraiser’s advertisement on television and decided to give it a go.
‘‘I want to give back,’’ he said.
‘‘I’ve grown a beard for years.
‘‘I’m starting to go bald as well so I might as well get rid of the whole lot.’’
Mr McIntyre said people had been very supportive of his decision to take part in the event.
‘‘Everyone’s happy about it – my fiancee is happy,’’ he said.
Mr McIntyre said people at Horsham Gardens, where he lived, had also gotten right behind him.
‘‘Here in the village people have been really good,’’ he said.
‘‘They each put in money.’’
World’s Greatest Shave is from March 12 to 15.
Mr McIntyre said he would do the shave on one of those days.
‘‘I’ll get my brother to come in to do it for me,’’ he said.
Mr McIntyre said people could donate by putting money in the unit 16 letterbox at Horsham Gardens or in a collection box in the Horsham Gardens lounge.
