But the 38-year-old stalwart says he is yet to decide whether this summer will be his last as he prepares for his 200th first grade game against last-placed ANU at Stirling Oval, starting Saturday.
Four points ahead of Tuggeranong and Ginninderra before the last round of the two-day Douglas Cup competition, fourth-placed Weston Creek Molonglo must beat ANU to guarantee a finals berth.
Brown quit cricket five years ago when his wife Sonia was expecting their first child, but being a father figure to the side's youngsters after returning last season has given him a new lease on life.
He evens throws in some One Direction in between Rod Stewart and Fleetwood Mac classics when manning the team stereo in the dressing sheds.
"I've enjoyed these two years more than any of my career," Brown said.
"Some of the guys I'm playing with are 22 years younger than me and I get so much out of that, it's given me an extra leg.
"They are a terrific bunch of kids and you look at Mac Wright, Joe Slater and Kevin Jacobs, I'm just so jealous because I know what's in front of them.
Brown confided in friends before the recent one-day final against Wests/UC that he would retire if they won, but despite his incredible 192 runs off 167 balls they fell just short.
He was non-committal when asked if he'd pull the pin should Wests win the two-day title.
"My family [Archie, four, and Ali two] are growing up and I need to be fair to them, they're the most important thing in the world to me," he said.
"I'm not going to say I'm not going to play next year. I've really enjoyed it and if they want me to play again going forward, we'll have a team meeting at home and see how the vote pans out.
"Regardless of whether this is my last season or not, I'm really passionate about Canberra grade cricket and it's something I'd like to continue to contribute to."
In other matches beginning on Saturday, Wests will be chasing a top-two spot against Ginninderra, North Canberra-Gungahlin host Tuggeranong Valley at Harrison Oval while Queanbeyan take on Eastlake at Freebody Oval.
