The organisation is looking to create a Community of Practice for the Prevention of Violence Against Women.
Health promotion officer Simone Meade said a community of practice was an effective way for people to share experiences, identify common challenges, solve problems and learn, maximising opportunities to improve practice in real time.
Women’s Health Grampians has invited people to fill out a short survey.
‘‘It’s a needs analysis to see what level of interest there is across the region to establish a community of practice,’’ she said.
‘‘Then we will assess what topics might be covered and what the community of practice might be able to achieve.’’
Ms Meade said Women’s Health Grampians staff had participated in a number of community of practice sessions in Melbourne.
‘‘Victorian Women’s Health Services use the community of practice model for issues surrounding sexual and reproductive health and the prevention of violence against women,’’ she said.
‘‘They are very good for sharing information and different strategies to address challenges.
‘‘We thought this might be something that works in our region.’’
Ms Meade said the community of practice would improve access to resources; translate current research into relevant and accessible knowledge; facilitate the exchange of skills and knowledge; and provide opportunities for people to support each other, develop working relationships and share problem-solving strategies.
She said the organisation envisaged the sessions would be hosted quarterly from April.
‘‘Each session will run for about six hours and will include time for planned learning activities, project updates and information exchange, and networking during lunch,’’ she said.
Ms Meade said people could visit www.surveymonkey.com/s/BYMTHT7 to complete the survey by March 13.
She said it would take between three and five minutes to complete.
