Ararat finished at the top of division three with seven wins and one loss, while Dimboola snuck into fourth place ahead of Horsham in division four.
Nearly 200 people battled for victory in the carnival at Horsham Showground.
The event featured some of country Victoria’s best eight-ball players.
Horsham Eight Ball Association president Robert Taylor said it was unfortunate a Wimmera team did not win a final.
But he said there was tough competition.
‘‘The quality of play was unbelievable," he said.
"I watched the division one grand final – the skills those guys have got, you could tell it was the best around.
"Even in the lower divisions there wasn’t much of a gap between the quality of play.
‘‘I played in the division four team and we were up against some very good players, even though they were in the lower division.’’
Taylor said he hoped the association had done enough to impress the competition committee.
He wants to see the carnival return to the region.
‘‘We hope we might be able to host it again and have even more involvement from the Horsham community,’’ he said.
‘‘I think Horsham will be able to host it again in the future for sure.
Next year it is in Mildura, then it is in Ballarat and hopefully we can get it after that.
‘‘We will definitely put our case forward to host it again in 2018 when the time comes.’’
Taylor said about 500 spectators and players attended the competition from Friday to Sunday, with 169 players in Friday’s knock-out competition.
In the division one grand final on Sunday afternoon, Geelong Green defeated Castlemaine.
Dennington defeated Central Highlands in the division two grand final.
Bendigo Snooker scored the division three premiership against Carisbrook and Sunraysia Gold defeated Goldfields Eight Ball in division four.
Stawell and St Arnaud teams also represented the Wimmera at the weekend.
