Both teams won their way through to the grand final after overcoming Charlton and Jeffcott respectively in two-day semi-finals at the weekend.

The Eagles’ devastating bowling attack was far too much for Charlton to handle in the semi-final.

Brim-Kellalac-Sheep Hills batted first after winning the toss and built an innings of 8-219 around Matthew Crisp, who batted superbly in the middle order for 69 not out.

Charlton openers Brett Schofield and Daniel Thiesz contributed only four runs between them, while skipper Daniel Whykes made 11 runs at number three.

Luke Sarre came to the crease with his team reeling and despite putting together an innings of 42, batting partners kept falling around him.

Charlton was all out for 95. Donald claimed the other spot in the grand final after Dion Hawkes destroyed Jeffcott’s top order on Sunday.

Donald gave its bowlers a total of 200 to defend after a solid batting performance.

Hawkes set about defending it with aplomb.

He removed six of Jeffcott’s first seven batsmen for a combined total of 15 runs.

Such was Donald’s bowling dominance that Jeffcott was 7-23 when Jake Hogan was dismissed for six runs – a team high at that point.

Dudley Bibby came in at number eight and was the first of the Jeffcott batsmen to stick around.

He made 63 and combined with Nick Atkins for a 64-run partnership, but it was too little, too late.

Jeffcott was all out for 136, 64 runs short of Donald’s total.

Hawkes finished with 6-36 from 13 overs, to go with his 35 runs with the bat on Saturday.

The grand final will be a threeday match at Warracknabeal starting on Saturday and continuing on Sunday and Saturday, March 14.

The B Grade grand final series will be contested by Donald and Hopetoun Red.

It is a series of three one-day matches, played on the same days as the A Grade grand final.
