Last year’s runner-up Brim-Kellalac-Sheep Hills will enter the match as the premiership favourite after losing just once all season.
Since then, the Eagles have peeled off nine consecutive wins including a huge 124-run win against Charlton in the semi-finals. Donald’s build-up to the grand final has been more low-key. It finished second on the ladder with seven wins and three losses and had a comfortable win against Jeffcott in the semis.
Brim-Kellalac-Sheep Hills and Donald have clashed only once this season, in November.
The Eagles won by 25 runs in a low-scoring affair.
Eagles skipper Matthew Crisp said that result would have little bearing on the grand final.
‘‘I don’t think you can read too much into it – it was a one-dayer and neither of us batted too well so I think it will be totally different,’’ he said.
‘‘Both sides batted well in the semis and made scores of more than 200, so batting well is definitely the key to going a long way with it.’’
Crisp said his side would be wary of Donald skipper Dion Hawkes, one of the most dangerous all-rounders in the association.
Crisp said he was looking for big performances from his own senior players. ‘‘I’d love to see Chris McPherson step up with the bat and have a really big one,’’ he said.
‘‘I’m hoping Cam Rattray keeps going the way he has been as well because he’s had a terrific year.’’
