An elderly man has had a lucky escape after he lost control of his car and crashed into a shopfront in Fairfield.

The man did not suffer from any serious injuries, but Ambulance Victoria paramedics treated the man and one other person at the scene.
Victoria Police said the incident occured at the Fairfield Books shop on Station Street, Fairfield, about 2pm on Friday.
Ambulance Victoria spokeswoman Lisa Hind said there was "a bit of damage to the shop", but the extent of it is unknown.
Vicroads said the road near Duncan St had reopened at 4.30pm after being closed since the incident.
