Sydney Swans star Adam Goodes played a huge part in the Swans’ campaign and is a guaranteed starter.
He’ll be joined by youngster and fellow former Horsham Demon Jake Lloyd, who played 21 games in his debut season with the Swans.
Lloyd performed well in the NAB Challenge leading up to the season’s start.
Goodes’ brother and newly listed Western Bulldog Brett Goodes will be a good chance to line up against West Coast Eagles in round one.
After being delisted and re-rookied, Goodes’ form was impressive throughout the pre-season.
Minyip-Murtoa export Clinton Young will have to wait at least two to three weeks before he can inch closer towards his 150-game milestone with Collingwood.
He is recovering from a hamstring injury, as is Horsham export and Saint Seb Ross, who is still two months away from being available for selection.
Warrack Eagle turned West Coast Eagle Matt Rosa will aim to remain injury free in 2015, after a pectoral strain ended a stellar start to 2014.
He was among the Eagles’ best in his three NAB Challenge appearances and will be a vital cog in the team’s midfield.
Fellow Warrack Eagle Kyle Cheney completed his transition from Hawthorn to Adelaide and will aim to get more game time. The talented defender was unable to earn a consistent spot with the Hawks, but played two NAB Challenge games for the Crows.
Edenhope-Apsley brothers Tom and Oscar McDonald will play together at Melbourne.
Tom will look to take the next step after finishing high in the best and fairest.
He will provide a good guide for Oscar, who is in his first year at the top level.
Fremantle’s Tanner Smith hopes to ignite his AFL career in 2015, having only played one game ever, in 2013.
After being delisted and re-rookied, Smith started as the substitute in two of his three NAB Challenge games.
He proved his worth in the match against Sydney, gathering 13 possessions and taking four marks.
Ararat’s Lauchlan Dalgleish can claim to have booted the goal of the season already, with a superb running goal for Essendon against the Demons in the NAB Challenge. He also gathered 22 touches against GWS Giants and presses his case as one of the Bombers’ most exciting youngsters.
Brisbane Lion Michael Close rounds out the Wimmera representatives, with the former Harrow-Balmoral player enjoying 14 games with the Lions in 2014.
Close will aim to build on that in 2015.
