Players flocked from Horsham, Natimuk, Serviceton, Melbourne, Laharum, Wartook, Hamilton, Toolondo, St Arnaud and Edenhope to support the competition, at
Toolondo Golf Club.
Organisers Luke and Karen Rees started the event after their son Joel had a stroke at three years old, which paralysed his left side.
Sunday’s golf day was extra special for the family with Joel, now 10, joining in for the first time, alongside his father and cousin.
Mrs Rees said it meant a lot to the family to have received so much support.
While the golfing competition played second fiddle to the charity side, there were still many who shone during the day’s ambrose competition.
Dale Gude, Richard Alsop and Larry Frien fired a five-under-par 65 to win the scratch competition.
Noel Robertson, Daryl Healy and Bowen Friend also shot 65 but finished runners-up on a count-back. Craig McDonald, Steve Suter and Brad Johnson shot a gross 71 off their combined 18 handicap.
Sue Dunstan, Liz Jackman and Mary Dowsley were the best of the women with a nett score of 62 2/3, beating Lorraine O’Beirne, Cheryle Bell and Bev Reynolds on 76 1/3.
Dave Bell, Ron Winfield and John Walsh won the front-nine handicap competition, while Justin Devlin, Kobi Devlin and Tony Sleep won the back nine.
