Now, her younger sister Ella is set to follow in her footsteps.
Ella will feature in an Australian country under-16 team to tour New Zealand after standing out at the Australian Country Junior Basketball Cup in Albury in January.
She played with the Vic Bushrangers at the tournament, which pits the best country players from across Australia against each other.
Ella caught the eye of selectors and was one of three Victorians picked for the Australian team to play at Basketball Pacific’s Pacific Rim Championships – New Zealand’s largest basketball tournament.
She flew out yesterday for the tournament, at the Bay of Plenty in New Zealand.
Ella’s mother Leigh-Anne Bibby said it was a big step for her.
‘‘She is pretty excited about going over there,’’ she said.
‘‘She just turned 15 and it will be the first time she has been overseas for basketball.
‘‘The whole family will go over with her to watch her play.’’
Ella has been training with prominent Horsham basketball coach Owen Hughan in preparation for the tournament. She played in the Horsham Hornets’ under-18 squad under Hughan this year.
There is more good news for the Bibby family, with Chloe set to play for the Dandenong Rangers in the South East Australian Basketball League this season.
Chloe spent the summer with the Rangers’ Women’s National Basketball League counterpart after making her professional debut in 2013.
The Rangers announced last month their SEABL coach Larissa Anderson would also coach the WNBL team, meaning Chloe will have the same coach year-round.
She is also preparing for the national under-18 championships in Ballarat later this month.
