The bakery’s James Henwood received a letter of confirmation on Friday, six months after his record-breaking feat.

Mr Henwood made the slice, weighing 677.076 kilograms, at the Horsham Show on October 1.

It smashed the record of 508.11kg set by Flinders Fish and Chips, in Flinders, Victoria, in June 2012.

Mr Henwood made 69 custard mixes for the slice, which were weighed and noted to comply with Guinness’s rules.

‘‘It has taken six long months of waiting, but it is finally official,’’ Mr Henwood said.

He said his world record attempt garnered significant interest.

‘‘We have had a lot of people passing through take notice of it, and locals have come into the shop to ask about it as well,’’ he said.

Mr Henwood thanked everyone involved in the initiative, particularly Lynton Brown, who filmed the process. 

‘‘If we didn’t have the video evidence, it never would have been made official,’’ he said.

Following his massive effort at last year’s show, Mr Henwood said he was unlikely to pursue another world record. He has since had time to reconsider.

‘‘I have applied for another one and received initial approval,’’ he said.

Mr Henwood is looking into the possibility of creating the world’s biggest gingerbread man.
