Saints coach Shayne Breuer said his side wanted to brush off the premiership losses.
But they would also fuel motivation for the season ahead.
‘‘Last year and the six others we’ve been in, we haven’t won. If it doesn’t motivate us in some way, shape or form, then there’s something wrong,’’ Breuer said.
‘‘We’re just about playing the best possible footy we can.
‘‘The season has taken so long to get here so I think the boys are jumping out of their skin to get out there and play a full-on game for some points.’’
Last time the two teams met, the Saints proved too good at home with a 36-point win.
Burras coach Jaye Macumber acknowledged the challenge ahead.
‘‘We’re fully aware that they’re last year’s runners-up and the year before that as well,’’ he said.
‘‘They’ve got a fantastic, strong squad and we’re going to have to play very well to win.’’
Macumber said his club hoped to secure another high finish this year after bowing out in week one of the finals in 2014.
‘‘We’re aiming to finish top three by the end of the season,’’ he said. ‘‘Everything we do between now and then will hold us in good stead for the end of the year.’’
