The college trialed a twilight finish to its sports day, with events concluding at 6pm.
College sports co-ordinator Cameron Pickering said it gave families the chance to support students.
‘‘It was a shame we couldn’t have had nicer weather, but the idea behind it was to be able to get more of the community available to come down,’’ he said.
‘‘Primary school students were able to come watch their siblings and parents were able to watch their children participate.’’
Mr Pickering said there was good participation from all students.
He said the highlight was the staff handicap races to finish the day.
The winners were students Tara Jasper and Oliver Timms.
Melleray House won the overall score with 1515 points, from Kildare, 1476, Clontarf, 1258, and Tara, 1088.
A male and female champion were named in each age group.
Champions were Kaleisha McKerron and Aiden O’Connor, 12-13 years, Jordie McAuliffe and Brayden Gebert, 14, Tara Jasper and Corey McKerron, 15, Aily McAuliffe and Oliver Timms, 16, Courtney Guy and Nicholas Tobin, 17, and Georgia Barnett and Corey Mann, 18 and over.
