Reigning Victorian production sedan champion Tim Atkin from Queensland and Victoria’s Stephen Laidlaw both demonstrated their intentions early, each winning two heats.
Atkin won the feature race ahead of Mark Gartner and Trevor Mills.
The win came after Mark and his brother, Stephen Gartner, took early honours in the heats.
The feature race was hotly contested, with several stoppages near the end, including a five-car pile-up.
It gave the field a chance to catch up with the leaders, who were able to hold them off to the finish.
In the Eighteen Formula 500s, Warrnambool drivers Will Caroll and Shane Van Duynhoven took control of the field and set a fast pace.
They had lapped a number of cars after just four laps, with Van Duynhoven eventually winning ahead of Caroll and Dion Bellman.
The three litre sedans also supported the evening, with three heats.
Ballarat driver Will Lamb was the dominant driver winning all three races in his VL Commodore.
Second place was shared among the visiting Swan Hill and Rushworth drivers, while Horsham club member Matt Gerlach finished third in two of the heats.
Veteran Horsham V8 truck driver Wes Bell shook off his bad luck this season, getting a clear win in the first race.
Kalkee farmer Fletcher Mills was consistent with three second placings, almost snatching a win from Luke James who collected two wins.
Jaryd Carman finshed third twice for the night.
There was some colourful racing in the vintage heavy rods.
Jamie Pridham collected a heat win in his yellow modified VW and also collected the most points for the evening.
Ken Tollner came second overall, winning one race and finishing third three times.
Portland driver Austin Corcoran was third overall in his shiny black FJ stock car.
Rupanyup farmer Ron Schneider worked hard during the week to return his 1939 Ford four-door sedan to the track.
Horsham’s three litre sedan driver Graham Gerlach had the pleasure of taking it around the track for the night.
The Horsham club will close its season in June, with a twoday meeting on June 6 and 7.
The carnival will feature three litre sedans, ASCF ladies, wingless sprintcars and vintage heavy hotrods.
