The Cougars have plenty to play for after going down to the Roosters twice at the end of last year, and are keen to make amends.
Cougars coach Neil Reeve said last year’s performances against the neighbouring rival would spur his players on.
‘‘In one game last year we were up by 10 goals at half-time but we couldn’t finish the job,’’ he said.
‘‘We still won, but only by a goal and we lacked the killer instinct.
‘‘Then we played them in the last round and they flogged us by 20 goals and we had to play them again in the first final, which we lost by 10 goals.
‘‘There’s a bitter taste in my mouth.’’
The Cougars will again look to start the game off well, but hope they can end their run of third-quarter lapses.
In the battle of the cellar-dwellers, Border Districts will take on Kingston.
Both will be chasing their first win of the season.
