Pimpinio Uniting Church members hosted the fashion extravaganza on Saturday to raise money for church maintenance works.
Church secretary Sheryl Bartlett said the group raised $2085.
‘‘We had 140 people attend, which was above all our expectations,’’ she said.
Mrs Bartlett said there were 66 garments on display, some more than a century old.
She said the range of items included christening gowns, wedding dresses and formal wear.
‘‘The oldest item was a petticoat from 1884. It was crocheted lace in very good condition – a really special item,’’ she said.
Mrs Bartlett said clothes were sourced from church members, families and friends.
‘‘A lot of us had our treasures packed away. They were mainly items worn for special occasions, like a wedding,’’ she said.
Mrs Bartlett said most of the garments were modelled by women and children from the Wimmera.
She said some garments were also hanging on display.
Mrs Bartlett said the event would not have been possible without a number of helpers.
‘‘We are very pleased with this project. It was highly successful and enjoyable and everyone loved doing it,’’ she said.
