President Colin Gibson said the group hosted the event at the Horsham Showground for a number of reasons.
‘‘The purpose of the open day was to display toys made for the Red Cross, to encourage prospective members to our club, and for people to try their hand at turning or scroll sawing,’’ he said.
The group make about 250 toys for the Red Cross each year.
Mr Gibson said the showcase was well attended.
‘‘It was a good day. We had a good display,’’ he said.
‘‘We got some very good reports back from people who attended.’’
Mr Gibson said patrons particularly enjoyed the come and try aspect.
‘‘A few people tried their hand at turning,’’ he said.
‘‘We generated quite a bit of interest from people wanting to have a go.’’
Mr Gibson said there was also an increased interest in membership in comparison to previous years.
‘‘Lots of brochures went out to people who were interested in what we do,’’ he said.
He said all money raised from entry and a raffle would go towards equipment and maintenance at their premises at the showground.
