The Saints led at every change at Birchip’s George Cartwright Oval, with the final scoreline flattering the Bulls.
The Saints had 29 scoring shots to 18 in the 13.16 (94) to 11.7 (73) victory, as inaccuracy prevented them from putting the result beyond doubt earlier.
With only six goal-scorers for the day, the Saints were potent across the board, with coach James McNamee, Adam Tipungwuti and Gavin Vassallo kicking three goals apiece.
Luke Wells, Vassallo and Harley Durward were the standouts for the Saints, as six goals from Birchip-Watchem’s Daniel Castellano kept the Bulls in the contest.
Dale Hinkley battled hard all day for the Bulls in a best-afield performance for his side.
The sides now sit first and second on the ladder, with the win putting the Saints four points ahead.
Donald remains on four wins for the season after it succumbed to Charlton on Saturday.
The Royal Blues trailed all day but drew within three points at the final change, before going down 12.6 (78) to 8.9 (57).
Coach Luke Fisher was Donald’s best in a match that leaves the side flailing in fourth position, only percentage clear of Wedderburn and the Navy Blues, who are fifth and sixth ahead of competition outlier Boort.
Wedderburn beat the Magpies by 35 points on Saturday, in a scoreline that could have been much more emphatic had it not been for an inaccurate Redbacks side.
