Kylie Zelley won the Swim Teacher Award - Babies, Infants and Pre-School accolade at an event in Melbourne.
She said she was thrilled to be recognised.
"To be nominated was one thing, but to go through and win the award was amazing,'' she said.
Ms Zelley was nominated by the Horsham centre manager Steve Clark earlier this year.
She progressed through regional levels to win the award.
"To go up against not just YMCA staff but also Victorian teachers - I feel blessed,'' she said.
Ms Zelley has been teaching swimming for about 12 years.
She works with younger children three times a week, plus runs after school lessons and adult swimming lessons.
Ms Zelley said she loved her job and was humbled by the recognition.
"It's a huge honour,'' she said.
