The workshop, at Kaniva Library, and hosted by artist Kelly Meyer.
Library manager Michelle Grant said it was a fantastic day.
The day consisted of two session, one for children aged six to 11, and one for teenagers.
“For the younger children, we asked them about their favourite book and had them think about what they liked about it - whether it was the colours, emotions, patterns or shapes,” she said.
“We then took those ideas and the children painted them on the windows.
“We had books such as Spot, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Maisy and Harry Potter.”
Mrs Grant said the workshop gave children the opportunity to take something that was special to them and make it unique.
“The library has a lot of window space so we will now have an open exhibition for a month,” she said.
A teenage workshop was about creating portraits.
“It was targeted at beginners and Kelly took them through the steps and techniques used to portray an image,” Mrs Grant said.
She said all the children involved in the workshops had a great time.
“We are always looking for ways to engage with the youth and we loved to run a workshop like this again,” she said.
The library will host a petting zoo as part of its school holiday activities on Friday.
Mrs Grant said the library worked with other community groups such as the Learning Information Network Kaniva and the Kaniva Guides to organise school holiday activities in the region.
