He said most traffic fines had increased from July 1.
“What used to be $185 for driving less than 10 kilometres over the limit will be $190,” he said.
“What once was a $295 fine for driving 10 kilometres over the limit is now $303.”
Both offences also included penalties of one and three demerit points respectively.
Exceeding the speed limit by 25 kilometres or more but less than 30 kilometres rose from $406 to $417.
Drivers who exceed the speed limit by 30 kilometres or more but less than 35 kilometres will face a fine of $493 in comparison to $480 in the previous financial year.
The penalty for a learner driver exceeding the speed limit had also increased from $185 to $190.
Sen Const Dignan the fine hike was further incentive for motorists to abide by the speed limit.
He urged people to be wary of their speed at all times.
