College students performed in solo categories of the competition.
Principal coach Kylie Hermans said most students placed in their respective category.
She said a highlight was intermediate Neve Lawson, who won her section.
Neve said it was exciting to win at the competition.
“Especially because it was only my second year competing at Mount Gambier,” she said.
“It means my calisthenics is improving and reaching a higher standard.”
Neve said she practised constantly before competition, but tried not to push herself too much.
“I’m now looking forward to the rest of the year and I hope for more good results,” she said.
Mrs Hermans said she was proud of all the students.
“Competitions are always a lot of fun and all the students usually enjoy them,” she said.
Kaitlyn Gebert placed second in the 16 years graceful solo section.
Maddison Cook placed second in both the 15 years graceful solo and calisthenics solo sections.
Sarah Castle placed third in the 15 years calisthenics solo section.
Alana Hermans placed third in both the 17 years graceful solo and calisthenics solo sections.
Rachelle Ough placed third in the 13 years graceful solo section and was highly commended in the calisthenics solo section.
Mackenzie Goodin placed third in the 13 years calisthenics solo section.
Monique Kinsman placed third in the 12 years calisthenics solo section.
Honourable mention awards went to Georgia Hoskins, 17 years graceful solo, and Sarah McFarlane, 13 years graceful solo.
The college is now preparing for team competitions.
Sub-junior, junior and intermediate teams will compete at Warrnambool from August 7 to 9.
Mrs Hermans said students were looking forward to the competition season.
The college will host its annual competition from August 28 to 30.
