THIEVES have got away with about $50,000 worth of jewellery after a break-in at a Stawell business.

Ararat Detective Marcia Parry said police believed two people smashed the front door of Latus Jewellers about 1.20am Tuesday.
She said they then entered the premises and took a number of gold bracelets and earrings, worth about $50,000.

Det Parry said the thieves were in and out of the business within minutes.
She urged anyone with information to call her at the Ararat Police Station on 5355 1500.
