Horsham Highway Patrol Leading Senior Constable Alan Perry said the Rainbow man, 76, died at the Wimmera Base Hospital due to serious injuries just after 6.30pm Thursday.
His wife, 74, died at the scene.
Lead Sen Const Perry said police were still investigating the cause of the crash.

A WOMAN has died after a crash at Tarranyurk.
Police are investigating the crash, which occurred about 3.45pm on Thursday.
Investigators have been told a car was travelling north along the Dimboola-Rainbow Road.
Officers believe the driver, a man in his 70s, lost control of the car.
The car left the road and crashed into a tree.
The front seat passenger, believed to be a woman in her 70s, died at the scene.
The driver suffered serious injuries and has been taken to hospital.
The investigation is ongoing.
