The program, run in collaboration with Wimmera Southern Mallee LLEN and Wimmera Regional Library Service, aims to promote the importance of reading with children from birth to age five.
Horsham Councillor Robin Barber said literacy was at the heart of a student’s ability to learn and succeed in school and beyond.
“Reading is the most important activity you can undertake to develop a child's literacy skills,” he said. “It is essential we give every child the best chance to master literacy so they can meet the challenges of life.”
Cr Barber said books could be donated at collection points at council offices in Roberts Avenue, Horsham library and Horsham Plaza.
