The club made the announcement on Saturday night, after the Tigers’ clash with Ararat.
Bennett said he was looking forward to continuing his work.
“The club wanted me to go again and I had the support of the players too,” he said.
“I wouldn’t have done it without that.”
Bennett joined the Tigers this year after stints at Kaniva-Leeor United in 2011 and 2012, where he coached the side to its first Kowree-NaracoorteTatiara league grand final in more than 25 years.
“It’s always hard going into a new club and one year is not really enough,” Bennett said.
“You want to have a chance to continue on what you started.
“I started the ball rolling this year and it’s not fair to do it for one year and walk away.”
The Tigers did not win a game in 2014, but have won four this year under Bennett’s leadership.
Nhill are currently sitting seventh on the Wimmera Football League ladder – 16 points clear of last-placed Warrack Eagles.
Bennett said he was positive about the Tigers’ chances in 2016.
“We have a really good bunch of young blokes at the club,” he said.
“The average age in the seniors at the moment is about 20.
“There is also a young, good group of boys coming out of the under-17s.
“I wanted to continue what I started this year.”
Bennett said coaching was a big commitment for anyone.
“The other blokes who coach will know that it’s not only a time commitment,” he said.
“Coaching takes a lot of energy and thought.
“There is a big psychological side to it.
“But you wouldn’t do it unless you enjoyed it.”
Bennett said he was looking forward to the future.
“I look forward to coaching, it’s always a challenge though,” he said.
“The biggest challenge is to get the guys to play the best that they can.
“At the end of the day that’s all you can ask for, and if they do that, then I am happy.”
