The committee aims to set a new Guinness World Record for the largest number of Nutbush dancers.
The group hopes 400 people will simultaneously dance to Tina Turner’s Nutbush City Limits on November 29.
The committee launched the fundraiser by dancing the Nutbush with Horsham College dance students.
College dance teacher Paul Denson said year seven and eight students were thrilled to participate.
“The Nutbush is one of those dances kids love. It’s repetitive and the music is infectious,” he said.
“It makes you really want to join in and do it.”
Horsham Mayor Mark Radford said people would be required to dance the Nutbush for five minutes and 15 seconds in November to set the record.
“There are different versions of the dance, and we need to be able to teach everyone to do it the same,” he said.
Cr Radford said entry to the Nutbush world record attempt was $15 a person, which included a t-shirt and souvenir band.
Entries open on September 1.
He said people could visit www.nutbushhorsham.com.au for more information about the event.
