Yendall received the Neville Wilson Medal at Saturday night’s Country Racing Victoria awards ceremony.
The accolade came after a brilliant 2014-15 season that included rides on 127 country winners. It is the sixth time Yendall has been given the award, and it adds to his 2014-15 Victorian country premiership and Victorian premiership wins.
The country premiership win was his sixth and the Victorian premiership was his second.
He has also won the Australian jockey premiership.
Yendall said he was pleased with his season.
“It was a pretty good year statistics-wise. There weren’t as many city winners but I can’t really complain,” he said.
The 41-year-old was full of praise for the teams around him, saying success was not possible without them.
“Obviously it helps to have a mixture of trainers and horses to get the better rides on the day,” he said.
Yendall rated his wins on Written Dash at Moonee Valley and The Big Dance in Bendigo as his highlights from the season.
He said he still had aspirations to win a group one race, but it was just a matter of patience.
“I’d love to try to win a group one race, but you’ve got to have the trainers and owners behind you,” he said.
“So hopefully one comes along.”
Country Racing Victoria chief executive Scott Whiteman spoke fondly of the year’s racing action at Saturday night’s presentations.
“There were no shortage of highlights,” he said.
“It’s great to bring the Country Racing Victoria family together to celebrate.”
More than 600 people were present at the ceremony at Melbourne’s Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Nine awards were presented at the event.
