The two sides locked horns at Ararat’s Alexandra Oval at the weekend in between the under-17 clash between Ararat and Stawell and the reserves hit-out between Horsham and Minyip-Murtoa.
The Whippets started strongly in the match, holding the Giants goal-less in the first half, before a more even second stanza saw the contest tighten up.
The Whippets’ 5.2 (32) to 1.2 (8) triumph was the perfect warm-up for Wednesday’s football and netball carnival in Mooroopna in the north of the state.
