HorshamTown Hall’s fundraising committee aims to set a new Guinness World Record for the largest number of Nutbush dancers.

The group hopes 400 people will simultaneously dance to Tina Turner’s Nutbush City Limits on November 29.

Practice sessions have been running throughout the city since the bid was launched last month.

Member for Mallee Andrew Broad even joined in the rehearsals at the Up Tempo Cafe on Wednesday.

Horsham Mayor Mark Radford said there would be an opportunity for people to learn and practice the dance on Sunday at the Horsham Aquatic Centre.

“With the help of professional dance instructors, we will be taught the dance, one step at a time, before having a go at dancing to the music,” he said.

“There are a few different ways that the dance is performed, so it is important that we all do the same thing.

The theme for the 4pm practice is come along and have a go. 

“Wear some loose fitting clothing, some soft soled shoes, bring a bottle of water and a sense of adventure,” Cr Radford said.

He said those who can dance the full length of time with the correct moves would be eligible for a Nutbush card – a ticket to participate in the world record attempt.

The cost of the card is $15.

There will be another training session on September 13.
